EDIT:
Send me an email with your snail mail addy, and I will send out a names-only email for everyone to okay sending out of infomations.
My email addy is in comments here.
Will follow up to peeps with email of appropriate addresses to everyone.
Then, let the Real Mail happen!
(and, Hey, every day is okay, but so is just Some Mail. And overseas is great!)
Lurker linked to this over on Google+:
From here: http://www.maryrobinettekowal.com/journal/month-of-letters/
“I have a simple challenge for you.
- In the month of February, mail at least one item through the post every day it runs. Write a postcard, a letter, send a picture, or a cutting from a newspaper, or a fabric swatch.
- Write back to everyone who writes to you. This can count as one of your mailed items.
All you are committing to is to mail 24 items. Why 24? There are four Sundays and one US holiday. In fact, you might send more than 24 items. You might develop a correspondence that extends beyond the month. You might enjoy going to the mail box again.”
Soooo
I wanna do this. It’s like Christmas cards, but not demanding that I do it in December.
Anyway, I need addresses, people.
If you send me a Real address, I will send you a Real Letter. On fancy cardstuff. I will send lady with the Real Mail plan a Real Letter as well, since she has a Real Address on her post.
So, if you’d like a letter, probably email me at lauowolf@gmail.com – Since probably people don’t want to put their Real Life info online here.
And if other people wanted to do this, they could copypaste this as well, and we could have orgies of pms and Real Mail.
If other people want to do this, maybe they should

Mary is a wonderful, talented, enthusiastic person. She’s doing all this along with her writing and puppeteering and blogging and running Google Hangouts and extensive travel. Just reading her schedule makes me tired.
Postcards count too, things typed on computers also count, as do packages — just put something in the mail every day.
I am writing Mary first, and then replying to some Christmas cards I got.
Mary did this back in September and it was so exciting when I got a lovely card back from her. I’d forgotten what it was like to look forward to the mailbox.

I’m in! Someone should compile a list of everyone who wants to participate and sent it round to everyone. That way we’d all get lots of mail! I’ll send you an email with my addy shortly. And I’m copying this to my blog, too!
Posted by Cap'n Stephel on January 27, 2012 at 4:41 pm
That sounds really cool! I’d give you my address, but I haven’t actually met you. That’s just my policy. One day, we’ll have to meet. That’s all there is to it 😀
Posted by AuntieBellum on January 27, 2012 at 4:45 pm
Haha! If you want, you can send Cap’n Stephel’s mail to me and I’ll pass it on. It might not be very soon. Or, on the other hand, it could be our excuse for CHEESECAKE!
Posted by lauowolf on January 27, 2012 at 4:55 pm
Now that sounds like a plan.
Posted by Cap'n Stephel on January 27, 2012 at 9:14 pm
I like it 😀
Posted by lauowolf on January 27, 2012 at 4:46 pm
No problem.
Do you ever get out to the Left Coast?
I’m convenient to SF.
In any case, feel free to pass it along to people you have met, and you can haz mailz with them.
Posted by Cap'n Stephel on January 27, 2012 at 9:13 pm
I haven’t been out there since my road trip (nearly two years ago..oh my). I need to go back and actually see more of states over thar, especially CA
Posted by fatcatfromvox on January 28, 2012 at 8:56 am
Are people willing to send overseas? In that case, count me in! Do yuo have my adress, I can’t rember…? I’ll mail it to you, anyways.
Posted by lauowolf on January 28, 2012 at 1:54 pm
Yep, got it.
Yes, overseas is great!
Posted by Flamingo Dancer on January 28, 2012 at 2:46 pm
This is a lovely idea, but I am afraid I can’t participate during the school term. I would need to go to a post office every day to post overseas and it is just not possible on a school day for me. We don’t have Saturday post in Australia (just Mon-Fri) so there would be less mail from Australia if in.

FD – The comments on the original poster’s site indicate that the intention of mailing a month’s worth of correspondence is the key point, not hitting it every day of the month. Some people on military bases or in remote areas are saying they’ll hit the post once a week and mail out that week’s letters. Just a possible alternative if you were worried about hitting the post office every day. 🙂

Hey, if you sent me your snail mail address, perhaps people (like me) would send you something even if you can’t be sending to us.
I would first send you a list of everyone involved, and you can decide who you want to receive your information and who not.
Posted by rossruns on January 28, 2012 at 6:22 pm
I love this idea. The only thing I’m worried about before committing is that I’ll be in Trinidad for the first full week of February (for work, not pleasure, unfortunately). I definitely won’t be mailing out letters from there, so I’ll start off over a week behind! I know the original poster of this concept said in the comments over there that it was find to play catchup, but I’m wondering if I’d just start to get overwhelmed. On the other hand, there’s nothing that says I can’t start my month a week late, and finish a week late. So yes, I’m in!

Send postcards! Even if you’re working, you can find postcards and scrawl on them “Wish I was here instead of at work”. You could mail them all in one batch either there or when you get home — maybe write them on the plane?
Anything that goes through the mail counts, says Mary.
Posted by AuntieBellum on January 28, 2012 at 10:17 pm
You could write something every day and just hang on to the envelopes until you get back.
Posted by lauowolf on January 28, 2012 at 10:40 pm
Hey, every day is cool.
But any day is cool too.
As much as anyone wants to do.
Posted by littlemiao on January 29, 2012 at 9:05 am
I love this idea. Snail mail is great.

I’m in! I just got a piece of snail mail from Homebody when I picked up a week’s worth of mail at the end of my business trip and it was the only fun thing in the pile. I want to put a little fun in someone’s mailbox, too!
Posted by Lauri on January 29, 2012 at 10:30 am
Count me in, too! I’d love to find and mail fun things to anyone and everyone! My email is laurihs@gmail.com!
Posted by Jaypo on January 30, 2012 at 5:35 am
I havent even read it all but it sounds like teh funz! I’ll read the rest at work today. My email is jtpoirrier [at] earthlink DOT net.
Posted by geologywoman on January 30, 2012 at 11:42 am
I do actually still send real mail, especially cards and such. I enjoy buying cards and stationary type things in charity shops for this purpose. It is just nice to send real mail. I think you have my email, right? If not, Jaypo has it.
Posted by lauowolf on January 30, 2012 at 7:10 pm
Would it work for you to email me the address?
I will send around a list of everyone – names only – to give each person a chance to decide who gets their information.
I will then send out the appropriate information to each person.
If this works, you would email your information to me: lauowolf at gmail dot com
Posted by lauowolf on January 31, 2012 at 11:54 am
Am getting details together now.
If you want to be on the list, you should send me your Real Address contact information at lauowolf at gmail dot com.
You’ll get a follow-up email letting me know who you are willing to have get it.
Posted by geologywoman on January 30, 2012 at 11:42 am
sorry I will not post my email address here…a wee bit paranoid aout someone who stalked me in person and cyberspace.
Posted by lauowolf on January 30, 2012 at 5:47 pm
Yes, we are not posting the addresses online.
You aren’t the only one with concerns, and it makes sense not to.
Here’s my theory.
Send your address to my email.
I will send out an email to everyone with a list of names only(usernames).
People then tell me who I can send their name to.
I send out approved lists to people.
The email to send the address to is lauowolf at gmail dot com
Posted by amyhftw on January 30, 2012 at 1:07 pm
Ooh – and can you let people know what the Vox name is as well? When I get Vox peeps who want to friend me in Google+ or Facebook using their real names, I’m always trying to guess who these people are and how I know them! 🙂
Posted by lauowolf on January 30, 2012 at 2:23 pm
Will list people with cyber id as well as address.
Good point.
Posted by rossruns on January 31, 2012 at 6:12 am
I posted about this on my blog today, here, to try to get some other visibility. I pointed any ex-Voxers to this post so they could throw their name (and address) into the hat if they wanted to participate, too.
BTW, Trinidad is lovely this time of year, besides the 90 degree weather and 65% humidity. At least the mosquitoes aren’t out in force!
Posted by robpixaday on February 2, 2012 at 4:26 pm
Awwww….this is lovely!!! But I don’t put anything on my computer/online (even within emails) if I can avoid it. No banking, no bill paying, no shopping. No anything. Freaks me out just thinking about it.
::shivers::
But it’s a great idea and I think that those who do it will enjoy it. And you’re super to coordinate the activity!!
(((((hugs)))))
By the way, thank you for asking if I’m OK. I’d’ve replied but I deleted everything on my site a few days ago due to a problem with “web scraping” (ewwwww) and I’m re-configuring everything for a Grand Re-Opening next week. I’ll explain about the web scraping then…or you can read about some of it here: http://badtypersblog.wordpress.com/2012/01/28/meh-and-feh/ and http://badtypersblog.wordpress.com/2012/01/31/and-its-done-time-for-new/ if you feel like plowing through the bad typing. LOL!!
See you soon!!
Ohh!! Nearly forgot: If you don’t want those links on your post just zap my comment. I understand! 🙂
::runs like the wind::
Posted by robpixaday on February 2, 2012 at 4:27 pm
Uh, oh. I think WP didn’t like those links. My comment “is awaiting moderation” and I don’t think your site usually does that. Does it? Sorry if I left you a mess!! WP must think that the links make it spam.
Posted by lauowolf on February 2, 2012 at 8:15 pm
No problem.
I don’t know what is up with it deciding to hold up some comments.
You’re all approved now.
