Of course I know this is “wrong”

But am I the only person marveling at this woman’s inventiveness?

You can do anything with duct tape, even daycare.

Southern California woman held for duct-taping toddler

Associated PressHESPERIA — A San Bernardino County woman is under arrest after authorities say she duct-taped her 2-year-old. Danyella Higgins was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of cruelty to a child.

County sheriff’s deputies went to the home of the 19-year-old Hesperia woman after she allegedly sent a photo to friend that showed her 2-year-old son with duct tape around his hands, feet and mouth. The recipient called authorities.

The San Bernardino Sun says Higgins told authorities that she was taping up a window and though it would be funny to tape up her son. He was found in a playpen with bits of tape still clinging to him. The boy was turned over to the county child welfare agency.

(Actually, this mostly sounds like a joke gone wrong, though of course I could be mistaken.)

  1. A friend of mine was once given permission to duct tape another’s son if he did X thing one more time. (He was about 8 and very much worthy of it). The kid didn’t believe it would happen.

10 minutes of “MMMRRPPPHHH!” and wiggling later, he did not do X again. His mom was smart enough not to document it, but did call his sister in to see it.

  2. That’s what you get for taking pictures. We used to hang our brother out on the clothesline. Never heard anything about that. Or anything about when we beat him with tennis rackets. Or the rotten apples, or… Well, we were a bit mean. Dysfunctional family and all. LOL

  3. Duct taping – funny. Wrong, but funny.
Taking photos and sharing them – stupid.

I used to make my brother eat sandwiches. Doesn’t sound too bad, you say? He still remembers the Mustard and Pepper, and Rose Flavoured Soap.

There was a sub teacher that got in trouble for duct taping a kid’s mouth shut. As they say, “Silence is golden, duct tape is silver”

  5. It’s obviously what they mean about parenting requiring restraint.
No photos of the duct tape!
